Hi everybody.

I have a simple question.   How do I set a command alias that will be
available system wide.  So I logout then I login again with it.

Thanks

Put it in  /etc/profile or the users .profile

sample :  $alias dir='ls -l'

put your alias in a file like myaliases and in your .cshrc file write
down:

source myaliases.

alias's unfortunately, do not get propogated to shells.  You need to either
put
this in your .profile - or better - in your environment file.  Usually
".kshrc"
and specified in the users .profile with a line like:
export ENV=~/.kshrc
By the way, the example of dir being equated to ls - I often ask people, do
they
then put on their resume that they have DOS skills?
Use alias's for something useful like "alias rm='rm-i'"

1. Newbie (I mean REAL NEWBIE) question

Sorry, I'm not a pc idiot, just completely new to linux. I lurked here
for a day or two and didn't see the answer.

Can I run Windows95 in a Linux RedHat 5.2 shell? This would let me play
Linux but still use my favorite apps. I've set it up to dual boot, but I
want to actually run one or two Win95 sessions in Linux itself.

Someone told me it was possible, but in the 4 days of having RedHat on
my system I can't figure it out...

Sorry for the dumb question.
