How to set init scripts?

How to set init scripts?

Post by Zachary Ham » Thu, 30 Dec 1999 04:00:00

I'm trying to add mysql to start on boot up, but am not sure where the
rc3.d (bsd/linux type) locations are?  How do I setup my mysql.server
script to run at boot up (runlevel 3 and 5).

TIA,

Zack

** AIX doesn't have the rc.d directory of bsd systems.  It uses rc files in
etc (do "ls /etc/*rc*" - to see some) and it activates them in /etc/inittab.
Also, AIX has ONE run level for multiuser mode - it is 2.  Anything that is
not 2, is not multiuser mode.  Check out /etc/inittab and you will see what
I mean.

There is another way to get things started using the "Systems Resource Controller".
That is a unique AIX thing (see qdaemon being started and SRC before it in inittab)

1. Setting global ENV var for all users in /etc/init.d/*-scripts ?

Hi !

----

Is there "standard" way how to export a global shell var from a
/etc/init.d/*-script (e.g. Solaris environment) to all further user
logins ?
The information is only available within the /etc/init.d/* script - but
must be available to the users...

... any ideas ?

----

Bye,
Roland
