1. Oracle on AIX:Oracle Newbie

Management wants to save a hundred thousand dollars and still completely
integrate all financial information into a single accounts payable database
with ease of data input and ease of reporting

Most of the data is written in cobol isam tables, some is on PC Platform

Question: How big a job would it be to create a database in Oracle  running
on AIX 4.3.2 which can read both isam tables and ascii tables?  Does Oracle
come with a compiled sql language that can be run from UNIX commandline?

Can I embed SQL statements into Korn Shell or Perl or awk and write to those
tables?

How much is Oracle?

Sorry for such a newbie question on this, but this problem was thrown in my
lap and now I am trying to research it.

The ultimate goal?  An Accounts payable system that can automatically read
its input from these cobol isam files and ascii tables for under 10 grand
