Howto- Capacity planning on buying backup tape

Post by Hon Wai Wo » Thu, 22 Oct 1998 04:00:00

Hi:

I need to purchase backup tape to perform the system and data backup.

How do I know from AIX that if all wish to go for a system backup, how
many backup tape space I need to have?

Thanks.

1. Solstice Backup question - Tape Capacity?

Can anybody explain why my nightly backups, which go to the NonFull
pool will continue writing to the tapes until they have about 55-60 GB
of data, but my Full backups on the weekend will only put a max of
about 40 GB on a tape?

I'm using the same tapes for both.  DLT IV on a Sun DLT4700 Drive.

Plus, I'm getting error messages from one client that reads as
follows:

<client-name>:/ savefs: ser is not backup enabled,
<client-name>:/ nor is it listed in this client's resources

and I seem to get those for each filesystem it tries to backup.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
