Posting this for a friend ....

Hi there,

I have been tring to get the 8mm tape drive in an RS6000/530h
to read a tape being created with and Exabyte 8200 8mm tape
drive. The RS6000's 8mm tape drive just refuses. However,
I have been able to use the RS6000's 8mm tape drive to create
a tape and able to read it on the Exabyte 8200 8mm tape
drive. I used the "tar" program to the writing and reading.
Any idea on what I should do ? The RS6000 is currently
running AIX 3.1.5 and will soon be upgraded to AIX 3.2.2.
Do you think that will solve the problem ?

a summary if there is enough interest. Thank you.
