RCP File Permissions

Post by adrian5.. » Sat, 29 Jan 2000 04:00:00

Hey All ,

I am having a problem when RCP'ing directories between two AIX machine.

When the directories reaches it destination the ownership of all files
is converted to root:system.

My command is simply:

   rcp -pr /home/cj/testdir machinetwo:/work_area/testdir

From what i can see in the documentation, all permissions and ownership
should remain the same as it was on the host, however i can not get
this to work!!

Any help would be much appreciated.

Adrian.

Your .rhosts files on both machines should be chmod 600

1. rcp changes file permissions

Hello all,

Solaris 7 rcp is changing file permissions.  Any idea as to why it's doing
that?

On another note during a format/analyze, I got an error message saying that
the drive has been "reserved or removed".  SCSI bus problem?

TIA
Ray
