Using AIX Ecurses

Using AIX Ecurses

Post by Bill McLe » Fri, 27 Mar 1992 02:08:50

Hi.. I am currently working on porting a curses application to the RS6000... It seems to
be working ok, but I have several problems:

1) I cannot get the ACS character set to dump to the terminal.. I use the ACS line drawing characters
to draw my own boxes as the defaults usually use `|` and `-`.

2) Should I just just curses.h and libcurses, or is it worth it to try to use  cur00.h and libcur ?

3)  Are there any specific examples of extended curses on AIX?

Thanks in advance,

Try compiling your code with the flag "-DNLS".  Things should start working
better.

I personally decided not to use extended curses for two reasons: (1) its
bugging [according to someone who's used it -- not me]; (2) it's not so
extended -- if you use curses pads like I do, you'll find that there are no
pads in ibm's extended curses!?!?

I don't know about your other problems, but I have had some success
porting Curses to the RS6000.  The AIX Curses is basically System V,
Version 2 Curses, so don't epect color to work!
