Hi,
I'm finding that CDROM access for section 1 of the Info Database is too
slow from CDROM. I've copied seciton 1 (aix.key, aix.rom & sys.sys) to
my disk and modified the /usr/lpp/info/data/ispaths file so that it
points to the right place (my disk) for section 1. All the other sections
remain on CDROM only...
[ appropriate section of ispaths listed below ]
################################################
# info Using & Managing Database #
################################################
id 1
glossary TRUE
name aix
title Using and Managing
sys /usr/man/info/sys.sys
key /usr/man/info/aix.key
rom /usr/man/info/aix.rom
################################################
I'm finding that a man lookup for a command in Section 1 ("man cat") will
result in the CDROM being accessed instead of the disk (the CDROM light
blinks and the access is slow).
If I unmount the CDROM (so that only Section 1 of the manpages are available
on disk) then the command "man cat" will access the man page quickly. If
I try a command that is not in section 1, I will get "there is no man entry
for ..." So clearly Info knows about the stuff on disk, and it is setup
to find it in ispaths, but when the CDROM is mounted, it ignores what is
in ispaths and gets it from CDROM.
This is perplexing, what else besides the ispaths file needs to be updated ?
What is going on ?
Any "Info" would be appreciated :-),
