AIX 4.3.2 runs in 32-bit mode. That's the only kind of kernel you
can get, even on 64-bit hardware. There will be, however, 64-bit
processes on 64-bit hardware.
If you want the type information, longs and pointers are 64-bit
in 64-bit mode; ints are still 32-bit. In 32-bit bit mode all
3 are 32-bits wide.
All the 64-bit configuration does is load a kernel extension that
provides the 64-bit system calls (amidst other stuff, of course :-)
Then you can run 64-bit apps. But the underlying kernel is still
32-bit, albeit a smart 32-bit ;-)
