http://www.bull.de/pub/aix432/ethereal-0.8.2.0.exe
http://www.bull.de/pub/aix432/tcpdump-3.5.0.0.exe

Ethereal is a graphical protocol analyzer.  It requires
the Gtk libraries, iirc.  Tcpdump is much like snoop.

You might also want to look at iptrace as well (which is in the
bos.net.tcp.server fileset).  You can't show the packets you're
capturing in real-time like tcpdump, but the formatted report is
fantastic for debugging any complex problems.

Not sure why you'd want to use that one, I suspect it's a little
newer than the tcpdump AIX ships.  AIX ships tcpdump in the
bos.net.tcp.server package.

1. has anyone ported 'httperf' or 'siege' to AIX 4.3.x?

We're using httperf now from Linux to hit IHS + WebSphere (WAS AE 4.0.3),
and it's serving us well.  However, some of our client boxes are running AIX
on 56Kb frame relay lines.  That detail does make a big difference
in Web load testing.

Has anyone ported 'httperf' or 'siege' to AIX 4.3.3, using either the xlc
compiler or gcc (from AIX toolbox for Linux)?   I got pretty far along
with 'httperf', but it's still croaking in BSD socket code (header files).

Any pointers would be appreciated!
