I'm not sure why it is not working, but here are some things to consider:
1) SNA ver 3.1.2.11 has been out of service for several months.
The currently supported product is "CS/AIX v5", 5765-D20.
2) The description of APAR IX84978 implies that it is for
running X.25 over the 2-port PCI card. If you are running
SDLC then it may not be needed. If you are running X.25
you should maybe update the AIXLink/X.25 code also.
3) If you are running sdlc, did you also update:
devices.common.IBM.hdlc.sdlc
4) The description of APAR IX84978 says it is for an EC
for the adapter. This means the adapter itself is replaced.
EC = Engineering Change - IBM terminology for h/w change.
If your adapter is old and has not been replaced, try
running diagnostics ('diag' command) with the new level
of the device driver loaded. If diags fail with the new
device driver, report a h/w problem and get the card
replaced.
> We have a AIX421 43p with the 2-Port Multiprotocol PCI adapter.
> We use it for SNA connection. We using SNA ver 3.1.2.11
> The menu ask we to install IX84978 if we use AIX421.
