Replacing the "rsh" and "rcp" commands with ssh substitutes on PSSP 3.2

In reading some IBM redbooks (Highly Available IBM eNetwork Firewall
using HACMP), there is a section about replacing your rsh and rcp
commands with the "ssh drop in replacements ssh and scp".

I am building an SP2 cluster with HACMP, and I want to avoid Kerberos4
and DCE.  So, I've got ssh working between the nodes and the control
workstation without passwords.  I replaced the "rsh" command with
"ssh" and "rcp" with "scp".

When I do a "dsh date" on my nodes, I get the following output:

        node01-priv: Tue Jun 26 00:19:27 DFT 2001
        node03-priv: Tue Jun 26 00:19:27 DFT 2001
        node05-priv: Tue Jun 26 00:19:29 DFT 2001
        node07-priv: Tue Jun 26 00:19:31 DFT 2001
        node09-priv: Tue Jun 26 00:19:29 DFT 2001
        node11-priv: Tue Jun 26 00:19:27 DFT 2001
        node13-priv: Tue Jun 26 00:19:27 DFT 2001
        node17-priv: Tue Jun 26 00:19:27 DFT 2001
        node33-priv: Tue Jun 26 00:19:27 DFT 2001
dsh:  5025-509 node33-priv rsh had exit code 255
dsh:  5025-509 node17-priv rsh had exit code 255
dsh:  5025-509 node13-priv rsh had exit code 255
dsh:  5025-509 node11-priv rsh had exit code 255
dsh:  5025-509 node09-priv rsh had exit code 255
dsh:  5025-509 node07-priv rsh had exit code 255
dsh:  5025-509 node03-priv rsh had exit code 255
dsh:  5025-509 node01-priv rsh had exit code 255

In a way it works, but in a way it doesn't.  Has anyone successfully
replaced the rsh and rcp with ssh commands _on PSSP_ systems?

I would really think twice before doing want you want to.
How many things to you think you will break with this ?

1. How to "rcp"/"rsh" as "root"?

Hi all.

I guess this is a security safeguard; I find that I cannot use "rcp" and
"rsh" to operate another Linux machine while being the root user. How do I
enable this? I need this in order to transfer, load and map drivers, as
per the scripts accompanying KGDb. (Security is not a concern for now.)

I am using RedHat 7.2 with kernel 2.4.18.

If you see a 'X' in my address, remove it before e-mailing me.
