Upgrading a 7137 fro model 412 to 414???

Is it possible to upgrade a 7137 from a model 412 to a 414 by
replacing the drives and re-initializing the array? I can find no
reference in the manual to a different cotroller card for the
different models. The only difference is the installed drives. I would
like to obtain some 4GB drives to upgrade the system.

Has anyone out there done this?

This is not that easy.  The 7137 can handle a drive swap, but the
drive has to be the same size.  If more than one drive is swapped/failed
the 7137 becomes a vegatable (assuming RAID and NO hot swap).  One
of our units got into this state... VERY messy.  Luckily we were a
test facility for IBM and had the "Genesis" machine to bring it back
to life.  If you wonder what the "Genesis" machine is, it is an OLD
PC laptop like system that connects into the RJ45 port in the rear
of the 7137 (Ahhhh!!!!  That's what that's for!  :)   ).  That is the
true reconfiguration port.  If it is at all possible to upgrade the
drives, I am pretty sure you will need a genesis reconfig.  This is
NOT a customer usage item.  Best bet is to contact IBM and see if
it is possible.

Basically the answer is no, this is not an easy thing to do, and
I am not sure if it even supported.

1. 7137 - RJ-45 port on controller and Upgrading form 412 - 414

Anyone know if it is possible to field upgrade a 7137-412 to a 414? We
have the disks but need to convince the controler it is now a 414 and
not a 412. I am assuming it is a configuration issue as the part # for
the controller in all models are the same. I heard that the RJ-45 port
on the controller is used to configure the controller. If so can you
just connect a terminal or does it require some special program that
IBM has to do this? Anyone knoe the pinout?
