CDE

CDE

Post by bd.. » Thu, 07 Sep 2000 23:39:09

I've recently wiped out and reinstalled AIX 4.3.2 on a 43P model 150
with a GXT130P graphics accelerator.

Upon reinstallation, CDE no longer recognizes the adapter.  When
attempting to run 'xinit', the following entries appear in the
/var/dt/Xerrors log:
1362-020 Cannot locate required graphics adapter software.
Run 'smit cfgmgr' to Install/Configure Devices Added After IPL

I researched this error code on IBM's site, but came up empty.

I reviewed the hardware installation documentation for the GXT130P, and
followed the instructions to install a particular software package of
the device drivers
(http://www.rs6000.ibm.com/resource/hardware_docs/english/a4a93m07.html#
HDRINDDS) but that still didn't help.

If somebody could throw me a bone over here, I'd appreciate it!

Thanks, TTYL!

have you tried inserting the driver CD in the drive and running cfgmgr -i
/dev/cd0 ?
it forces the drivers to be installed from the media. might help.

Hey Scott,

cfgmgr -i/dev/cd0 with the driver CD in the drive returns an exit code
of 0 and no information whatsoever (not even an entry in syslog)... not
to mention that CDE doesn't come up either.

According to "lslpp -L all", the device drivers for the GXT130P and the
common graphics drivers and libraries are all installed and committed.

It has got me stumped.

Thanks, TTYL!
