x11 and cde on an sp node?

Post by The Professo » Wed, 05 Jan 2000 04:00:00

Hello I'm a relatively new aix admin (formerly an mvs sysprog).  I'd
like to know if it's possible to install x11 and cde on an sp2 node (aix
4.3.2) without a local console attached.   I would like to have a gui
interface from a networked terminal.
        Thanks for your assistance.

As long as there is a IP connection to your client, and the client is running
a X Server program (I usually run XWin32 cos its cheap), then with a small
amount of config you can have CDE on a PC!!!

Have fun.

Yup. Been there done that.  Install the CDE code, and make sure
/etc/rc.dt
gets run during the SP node's system startup.  Our stuff AIX 4.3.2, PSSP
3.1,
Wide Silver nodes and switch-attached S7A's, and a partridge in a pear
tree.

  HTH,
