Hello all !

I have our RISC6000 H70 with AIX 4.3.2.0 on UPS. Communication between
UPS and AIX is executing via serial cable and serial port 2 (/dev/tty1).

On AIX is running process "upselmon", where is controlling messages from
UPS and when UPS send message, that power is down, upselmon make
shutdown command.

But when I read error report from this AIX, I get each 10 minute this
message:

But load processor is low and serial port rate is only 2400 bps. Is
possible disable writting these messages to error log and (or) disable
checking port from AIX ?

Hi Stanislav,

How do you monitor the cpu load? Maybe you could go to IBM's website and
search the patch database for upselmon or something like that.

I would seem that the tty1 port or the serial port on the UPS is
miss-configured. The error message is essentially saying that crapola is
hitting the tty1 port so quickly the system can't deal with it. This is the
equivalent of holding down a key on your keyboard until the input buffer
fills up.
I'm curious as to whether the upselmon software is actually communicating
correctly. I think the first step is to determine whether the upselmon
software is receiving infomation from the UPS. Is it supposed to get a "I'm
Alive" message every minute or something like that? Does it get the message?
Does the UPS only send a message when the input power to the UPS is gone?
Have to tested whether this function works? Pulled the power to the UPS and
the H70 starts an orderly shutdown?
