Newbie stty question

Post by Domingo Sanche » Sat, 07 Nov 1998 04:00:00

Apologies in advance for such a basic question, but I cant find what I need
in the man pages.

I am using Reflection X to get into AIX 4.2.  My backspace key doesnt work.
I have tried:

stty erase <backspace>

When I hit the <bs> key, the output is ^[[3~

Thereafter, whenever I hit backspace, it doesnt backspace but echoes [3~

Thanks.

When you type 'stty erase <backspace>' do you type in the word <backspace> or
hit the backspace key

Should work if you type in

stty erase <backspace>  - where <backspace> is the backspace key.

Never mind. Someone pointed out a Reflection setting that switches <bs> and
<del>.

If that doesn't work, you might try using:

stty erase ctrl-v backspace_key

1. stty -g output mapping to stty -a output

Hi Netlanders,

I've got an easy one for you experienced folk.  I'm running on a UNISYS 5000/90
(Motorola 68020 based) with system V r3.2 UNIX.  My question is regarding
trying to understand the stty -g output.  Can anyone give me a clue as to
how I can map a string like "526:1805:4bd:3b:7f:1c:8:18:4:0:0:0:0:0" to
the appropriate flags (i.e. -parenb, -brkint, etc.) listed in TFM,
or is that not how the stty -g works?

E-mail to me, or postings to the net if you think its of general interest,
would be welcome.

Thanks in advance
