Problems with curses and AIX V4.3.2?

Post by Richard F. Luk » Thu, 08 Apr 1999 04:00:00

Hello,

I am working on a "curses" based application which runs great under AIX V4.2.0,
however when we run it under AIX V4.3.2 it fails to return the terminal
session to "cooked mode". When the application exits we get the shell prompt,
but characters are not echoed and we have to type "reset" and "ctrl-enter"
to regain the terminal session. Strangely, if we go through "telnet" we
do not have this problem, even if we only login to the directly terminal
terminal and simply telnet in again.

Any suggestion for this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Answering my own question, it appears we were able to fix this problem
by adding a seemingly superfluous call to "reset_shell_mode()" right
after calling endwin() in our AIX V4.3.2 application. This seemed to
fix the intermittent terminal problem.

Hope this is useful to someone out there...

1. Install AIX V4.2.1 on H50 which installed AIX V4.3.2 already

It was found that the non-volatile memory corrupted after installing AIX
V4.2.1 on H50 which installed AIX V4.3.2 already (the machine cannot be
re-started and stopped at E1DC which was shown on the LED display).

Is there any method to downgrade the OS?

Many thanks!
