Yes it does,,and only rootvg ..no other volume grougs

I was under the impression it only backed up MOUNTED filesystems.
I need to check the script again.

Norman is correct -- mksysb only backs up mounted file systems.  Check
the/usr/bin/mksysb and /usr/bin/mkszfile scripts.
