X11R5 xterm and utmp, anyone fixed ?

Before I re-invent the wheel,

Has anyone fixed the X11R5 xterm so that its modifications to
utmp (+ut, utmpInhibit) show up when a user does a w.

The xterm is making entries but they don't have any information in
several fields that w obviously uses.

(AIX 3.1.6, 530)

1. xterm can't grab console under X11R5 fix 9

I just installed public fix 9 to X11R5, and something which worked
before no longer works. Namely, xterm -C no longer seems to be able
to capture console output, which is quite annoying (especially since
it seemed to work before). Has anyone noticed the same behavior?
BTW, I am running AIX 3.1.6 (lslpp -h bos.obj says 03.01.0006.0008).

BTW, at least fix 9 fixed one problem: when you kill an xterm, it no longer
leaves a hung csh behind as before.
