devices.pci.b7105590 - Missing ...Please help

Post by Amir Mistri » Thu, 09 Nov 2000 04:00:00

Hi

I installed 3Com 10/100 Fast Etherlink 3C905 PCI card and ran cfgmgr.
It told me that I need following package:

devices.pci.b7105590

I looked everywhere...I could not find this package on the AIX CD's,the net,
not in the APAR database....
Can someone shed some light and tell me where I can find this package???

P.S.
The closest one I found was devices.pci.b7105090 which I found on the CD's
but it did not work.

Amir,

Is this adapter supported by IBM? It's been five years in the AIX
business and I have never seen a supported adapter without a proper
driver... Is it THE type of ethernet adapter that IBM sells for RS6K
PCI boxes or it's just one like that? Well, is it ONE of them, IBM
sells many types of PCI ethernet cards...

If it's just a PCI card without IBM support, cfgmgr might be able to
read some config info from the card and tell you what WOULD BE the
driver you need, you will just never be able to find it...because it
might not exist.

Strange. Please send a short post to the ng when you have found the
driver. Thank you.

There is no device driver for that card.

Doing AIX support was the most monty-pythonesque
activity available at the time.

1. Device driver devices.pci.scsi missing

Hallo,

after I installed 2 wide differential scsi adapters to a P43/260 under AIX
4.3.1 cfgmgr gives the warning

cfgmgr: 0514-621 WARNING: The following device packages are required for
device support but are not currently installed.
devices.pci.scsi:devices.pci.00100c00:devices.pci.0c000100

I can not find these drivers on the AIX CDs or on floppys that came with
the adapters .
The adapters do obviously run.

Can I ignore this warning ? If not, where do I find the drivers ?

Thanks,
Martin
