I'm running AIX 4.2.1 with all the Y2K patches.
Is there a way to limit the number of ftpd's that
inetd will start?

Doing AIX support was the most monty-pythonesque
activity available at the time.

1. FILE LIMITS AIX 4.3 limits file, original config etc
I have some questions re file size under AIX 4.3.
I've read some past postings on this topic, and the main point I am
unclear about it this: a number of answers to file size questions imply
the absolute maximum size is 2 gig. But other answers suggest it may be
more if the system was originally configured for large files. Others
suggest it may be less.
It it was NOT set up for large files, what is the max file size?
If it WAS, what is the max file size?
If I have a group of users set to a limit but have -1 for files
in /etc/security/limits what is the maximum file size. Which setting
over-rides?
If I have -1 set in limits what is the max size if large files were set
in the original config? And if they weren't?
Also how can I check if the filesystem was set to allow large files? I
was not the person who configured it.
Basically I want to set a limit for some users on files they create,
own etc, but to have no limit on application datafiles which are owned
by the system. I cannot see the relationship
between /etc/security/limits and edquota....
Thanks in advance,
Kate
