Hi there AIX 'ers
Is it true that just every  linux applications with simple
recompilation i can run on AIX5L ?

If it is i don't really understand how it's gonna work
regarding the fact that AIX5L is completely commercial
and linux

Not quite - AIX 5L has what is called Linux Affinity. What
this means is that you can take a Linux source that you
developed someplace else, load it onto AIX 5L and then
recompile that source on AIX 5L to generate a binary and it
will execute on the AIX system.

There are some caveats, especially in the area of
multi-threading. Basically, if your application uses the
clone() system call then the linux application will probably
not operate in the way you expected due to differences in the
way the AIX O/S implements threads and the way Linux
implements threads.
