cron.deny and cron.allow files for CRON management

Post by azama » Sun, 04 Apr 1999 04:00:00

Hi All

I  can not  seem to be able to  make these files  work. Despite  an
entry  in  cron.deny  file,  the  specific user  can use
the crontab  command  to  submit  a  job  to  cron and  the  job
does  gets  executed.
Crontab  command  is  supposed  to check  entries  in these  files.
Ido not think  this is  happening.

Any  idea  will  be  greatly  appreciated.
Please  send  me an e-mail.

Thanks

cron.deny and cron.allow files for CRON management

Do you have a cron.deny AND a cron.allow? If so that is your problem,
these files are mutually exclusive and you can only use one or the
other, not both.

You should have EITHER and allow or deny file.  Not both.  Is that they way
you are running?

1. cron.allow and cron.deny files

Hi  All

I   can't seem  to  be able to make  use of  these  two  files to
restrict access  to crontab command. Despite an  entry ( a  valid  user
logon id) in   cron.deny  file, that  specific  user  can still
use the  command  crontab  to  submit  a  job  to  cron.  According
to  manual  that  should  not happen.

Any  idea  will  be  greatly  appreciated.
PLease  send  me  an e-mail.

Thanks
