C10, GXT150M, no blue on screen with OS 4.3.3 (but with 4.1.x)

Hi !

Configuration: C10, AIX 4.3.3, GXT150M, IBMP200 Display.

After installing AIX 4.3.3 from scratch, I don't have any blue signal on my
video out when using X (but still red and green)

This is no hardware problem... under AIX 4.1.x it worked fine... when I boot
from the old discs I have all colors back...

seems to be unknown (or at least unfixed).

Any hints ? Am I alone with this ? *g*

Cheers,
 Felix

You're lucky. I just experienced this today. I will describe
what I did, and You may figure out what to try out then.

I came upon a customer where there are dozens of 40P, 43P, 230,
250, C10 etc. with different adapters and monitors. So, I do not
recall the actual graphics adapter type where this happened, but
it likely did not read GTX150 - some other GTX, I didn't care.
Machine was 43P, and all of them run 4.3.3.0.04 with some additio-
nal PTFs.

Well, the 43P was installed, and it came up with colors all ok,
but rather low resolution. The lsattr for the graphics card
read "Default" monitor and "Default" resolution (no other option
presented by smitty). The attached monitor was labelled
"Powerdisplay 20" (or similar), so I configured exactly this
display type via smitty->devices->video->display type.  And

I did this, and the resolution was fine, and the colors got
very very strange. Now reading You I would agree: the colors
were biased to red and green.

Now, as this was obviousely dependent on the resolution, I
told smitty that I would have a P200 attached. So it offered

brightness is a little low - obviousely that monitor is now
running at its limits.

So You may
1. try the "default" setting on the graphic card attributes.
2. work with a lower resolution that goes ok.
3. check for some fixes for the graphics device driver
4. urge IBM to come up with a solution
5. on Your own risk of damaging your monitor: configure some
other monitor that offers a resolution setting that does work.

with G & P monitors there is no problem.  If the inputs are out of the
operating ranges, they shut off the video outputuntill it comes back
into the monitor's range.
