Hi,
I am using aix2dos utility in AIX 4.1.5 to convert the files to dos
format when transferring from Unix to DOS. We are migrating to AIX
version 4.3.2 soon. When I searched there for aix2dos utility, I didn't
find it there. Could anybody help me in locating this utility? Do
anybody know any utility equivalent to this one in AIX4.3.2.

i saw unix2dos.c and dos2unix.c out on the net before. try one of the search
engines out there... shouldn't be difficult to find at all...

aix2dos was included in the "pci" (PC Interface or in IBM
terminology AIX Access for DOS Users) filesets at one time. Not sure if
this product is included in AIX 4.3.2 though.

Hi,

be sure you have installed 'bos.pci'. This fileset contents the
'dos2aix' and 'aix2dos' commands.

There are some dos utilities that come with 4.3. If you install the LPP
bos.dosutil fileset, you will get the dosdir, dosread, doswrite,
dosformat and dosdel commands. However, I have only used these
utilities to read, write and format DOS diskettes. You might be able to
use them to do what you want.

How about trying these little scripts:

1.) unix2dos
----------------------------------------------------------------
#!/bin/sh
# Unix-file with <LF> to PC-file <CR><LF>
awk '{ printf("%s\r\n",$0); }'<$1 >$1.dos
----------------------------------------------------------------
call it with 'unix2dos <file>'. Result will be <file.dos> in your directory.

2.) dos2unix
----------------------------------------------------------------
#!/bin/sh
# Remove <CR> from PC-Text-file
tr -d '\r' <$1 >$1.unix
----------------------------------------------------------------
call it with 'dos2unix <file>'. Result will be <file.unix> in your
directory.

I searched for this utility in AIX 4.2.1 as well. IBM told me to install
the fileset bos.pci. When I did this dos2aix was installed, but it was
a link to a program 'charconv' with different command line parameters.
