SMS?

Post by The Re » Thu, 28 Oct 1999 04:00:00

I have acquired an RS6000 43P/100.

I don't know how much RAM it's got, how much disk space it's got
(although it's got 1 internal SCSI disk and 3 external ones!!!) or
anything.

When I turn it on, I don't get a login prompt, I don't know what it's IP
is nothing. Althoug when I turn it off, I do see it killing the X
display, but that's the only time I ever see the X display!!!

Does AIX have virtual screen as Linux does? Can I hit some control key
combination to get to a virtual terminal with a getty running or to the
X display?

I was hoping I could use the "System Management Services" software to
check the setup and config the box appropriately, but that's the one
thing I don't have.

Does anyone know where on IBM's web sites I can get a copy of the SMS
floppy?

TIA

Craig

1. Using a GSM SMS Gateway on WWW to notify incoming mail

Hello all

On http://www.intellig.net/n/sms it is possible to send SMS (Short Message
Service) messages to GSM cellular phones (of a particular network) in
Belgium.

Is it possible to write a script that uses e.g. lynx to connect to the
cgi-script and enter the subject line of an incoming mail...  In that way,
I could be notified of incoming mail...

Is it possible?  How do I do this???

Best Regards

Wim
