How is the queue configured? Remote queue with standard processing?
Remote queue with local filtering? Jetdirect queue?
If you're using a remote queue with standard processing then there is no
virtual printer to do any formatting and all of the formatting is done
by the Jetdirect card.
If you're using a remote queue with local filtering then the formatting
can be done by the AIX virtual printer AND the Jetdirect.
If you're using the HP Jetdirect attachment software, all formatting
should be done by the AIX virtual printer.
If you know the escape code to put your printer into 6 CPI, just use
lsvirprt to adjust the ci attribute. For example, if your printer goes
into 6 CPI with ESC abc, then do:
lsvirprt
Select queue
ci~v
Append a new line to the very bottom of the file:
'\033abc'
where \033 is octal for escape.
