SSA Disk and RAID Array

SSA Disk and RAID Array

Post by amshai.. » Wed, 27 Sep 2000 04:00:00

I have a confusion regarding the use of Primary and Secondary disks for
configuring RAID 1 on SSA. hope someone help me out.

Now I have two adapters on my H70 and when I try to create array it
first goes to  chose the adapter (2 in my case ) so do I need to
duplicate my RAID configuration for both adapters????

Second is that Do I need to put equal disks in Primary and Secondary
option for RAID 1.

1. Re-using SSA disks previously members of a SSA RAID array

Somewhere under the SSA Raid menu entry in the smit|Devices menu,
there is a point that will let you change the usage of a SSA disk.
If a disk has been a member of an array, it is probably listed as
'Array candidate disk' or 'Hot Spare'.
Change that to 'AIX system disk' for all the disks, and you should
be able to re-use the units as normal SSA disks.
