GXT130 missing software on 4.3.2??

Post by Simon » Fri, 21 Sep 2001 18:32:55

Hi, when I first built my w'station I had a devil of a time getting the
graphics / CDE to work. I eventually found that there was some fileset
missng from the AIX 4.3.2 cd's. The adapter is a GXT130P.
devices.pci.2b100010.rte & devices.pci.2b102005.rte installed.

The thing is due to unforseen cirmumstances (blasted managers and no
backup available) I have had to go through the whole loop again.

The error I get in /var/dt/Xerrors is;

1362-020 Cannot locate required graphics adapter software.
Run 'smit cfgmgr' to Install/Configure Devices Added After IPL.
1362-020 Cannot locate required graphics adapter software.
Run 'smit cfgmgr' to Install/Configure Devices Added After IPL.

Thu Sep 20 09:07:30 2001
error (pid 2606): Server for display :0 terminated unexpectedly 1

Thu Sep 20 09:07:30 2001
error (pid 2606): Unknown session exit code -1 from process 3636
Xerrors: END

cfgmgr does not throw up any errors. Nothing usefull in errpt.

Does this sort of problem spring to anyones mind? - can you remember
what was missing?

cheers

GXT130 missing software on 4.3.2??

Not all drivers for the GXT130P graphics card are included on the 4.3.2 AIX

cd. You need to get the AIX 4.3 Update Cd that is dated June 1999, number
 9906.

Customers should order the JUNE 4.3.2 Update CD which contains:

 GXT130P Graphics Adapter (#2830)

 Required Filesets
 devices.pci.2b102005.X11 4.3.2.0
 devices.pci.2b102005.rte 4.3.2.1
 devices.pci.2b101a05.X11 4.3.2.4
 devices.pci.2b101a05.rte 4.3.2.4

 Optional Diagnostics Fileset
 devices.pci.2b102005.diag 4.3.2.0

Without the filesets you get a 1362-020 Cannot find graphics adapter
software....or a 1356-800 xinit: unable to start software.
 ftpibm site for 4.21
 or http://service.software.ibm.com/support/rs6000.support/downloads and
