wrong "oslevel -r" output ?

Post by Heiko Swar » Sat, 05 Jul 2003 17:08:31

Hi Experts,

on a mashine running AIX 4.3.3 ML 10 we applied an upgrade ML10 -> ML11
(downloaded from IBM).
The installation an reboot succeded normaly.
# instfix -ivqk 4330-11_AIX_ML
shoes me 392 not applied filesets an 137 applied filesets.

However:
# oslevel -r
4330-01

I expected 4330-11
Is this just a wrong output from the oslevel command?

Thanks in advance!
Heiko

Hello Heiko,
try
oslevel -qr
to view the Status of ML on your machine.
Cheers,
ku

Hello,

You need to run this command:

oslevel -rl 4330-11

This will tell you what filesets need to be upgraded to get to ML 11.

Hope this helps

Rich

1. oslevel - wrong output !!!!!

I had a system  with AIX 4.3.2.
I inserted a new disk and an AIX 4.3.3 CD and
then i type

alt_disk_install -C -b update_all -l /dev/cd0 hdisknew

After 2 hours the new disk was ready.
After a reboot the new systemdisk was active.
After this i upgraded the rest form the installation media.

I transfered the Patches from 4.3.3.0 to 4.3.3.25 from
the internet and installed them.

Reboot

There were no problems but if i try the command oslevel there was
the old output -> 4.3.2.0

In a fewer version there were Problems with this that the
ifor_ls.compat.cli was not the right.

But in this case i believe that it is the right:

  ifor_ls.compat.cli        4.3.3.25    C    License Use Management
  ifor_ls.compat.gui        4.3.3.25    C    License Use Management

I believe the problem is that the maintenance level is still at 4.3.2

Fileset                                 Actual Level        Maintenance

bos.64bit                               4.3.3.25            4.3.2.0
bos.INed                                4.3.3.0             4.3.2.0
bos.acct                                4.3.3.25            4.3.2.0
bos.adt.base                            4.3.3.25            4.3.2.0
bos.adt.debug                           4.3.3.25            4.3.2.0
bos.adt.graphics                        4.3.3.25            4.3.2.0
bos.adt.include                         4.3.3.25            4.3.2.0

u.s.w

What can i do to get the right output from oslevel ??????????

Any ideas
