Redirecting serial output to tcp port

Redirecting serial output to tcp port

Post by Glenn Dav » Thu, 04 May 2000 04:00:00

Hello all,
Is any one aware of a package/script that looks to AIX like a serial device,
but instead of handling an electronic uart, it actually directs the data to
a tcp port?
(There is an win32/nt package that does this called dialup-ip which makes a
virtual com port that any serial package can address and sends it out a tcp
port - this is what I'm trying to find an equivalent of)
Thanks
Glenn

There are a few (rtel, aprint, rprint, csportd, etc.)  Give a try to Netty from
http://www.flash.net/~laixsoft which does what you are looking to do.

Best regards,
Paul

How about a scriptable communications package that can make connections to
arbitrary TCP ports?  Like C-Kermit:

If you say what you are trying to do, rather than how you want to do it, you
might get a more helpful range of answers?

1. Redirecting input and output to serial port

Pl help:
With no keyboard attached to an Ultra, serial port I/O
is being redirected to ttya. I am able to view the
output by using VT100 terminal emulation software in
a PC. However, it is not accepting any input from
my PC keyboard. so i am not able to login at login prompt.
I have set the correct parameters for VT100term:
9600baud, 8N1
What are the other things to be checked here?
thanks in advance
