problem with cu after upgrade to 4.3.2

problem with cu after upgrade to 4.3.2

Post by Ken Scheering » Tue, 23 Nov 1999 04:00:00

I use 'cu' with a modem to dial-out to remote dataloggers
around the state.  Worked great under AIX 4.1.4

But I just upgraded to 4.3.2 and now I get this disconnect
error immediately:

#cu -ltty0 -s4800
Connected

Lost carrier

Disconnected
#

I copied my 4.1.4 /etc/uucp directory files without any
changes to 4.3.2, and the modem loads its internal settings
directly from its NVRAM, so nothing changed there.

So any ideas as to what configs may have been changed/added
to modem control in 4.3.2 that now work differently than
under 4.1.4?

The one and only thing that's remaining:  Your tty configuration !

try   'cu -ml tty0 [ ... ]'

and everything will work fine.  The 'cu' documentation (see the -m
flag) will provide more information. Serach also for 'clocal' within
the info database.

Yes, that was it!!
I had to add the -m flag to cu.

Thanks Hans.
