SSA Disk error's

Post by Andy Sha » Fri, 08 Feb 2002 22:31:29

Hi,

I recenty setup HACMP here and as a failover test I removed a single disk
form an external SSA drawer. Happy with the result I reinserted the disk,
which came back online and looked OK. However, ever since I get an error
message on the hour every hour:

*************************************************************

LABEL:          SSA_ARRAY_ERROR

Description
RESOURCE UNAVAILABLE

Probable Causes
DASD DEVICE

Failure Causes
DISK DRIVE

        Recommended Actions
        PERFORM PROBLEM DETERMINATION PROCEDURES

***************************************************

I'm not too sure if I actually have a problem or not. Is there something I
need to reset or configure to tell AIX that the SSA disks are OK again?
BTW, if I run diag it also complains about the disk error.

Many thanks for any help
Andy Shaw

Many thanks for the advice,

I ran the comand "errclear -j B4C00618 0" and that's cleared out all
entries form errpt but when I run diag I still get a warning about a
problem with the SSA array.. perhaps there is a problem ;-)

I think it's time to call IBM.

Thanks again
Andy Shaw

1. Re-using SSA disks previously members of a SSA RAID array

On Tue, 16 Mar 1999 20:12:12 -0500 a carbon-based biped by the name of Lekic

Somewhere under the SSA Raid menu entry in the smit|Devices menu,
there is a point that will let you change the usage of a SSA disk.
If a disk has been a member of an array, it is probably listed as
'Array candidate disk' or 'Hot Spare'.
Change that to 'AIX system disk' for all the disks, and you should
be able to re-use the units as normal SSA disks.
