What Operating System?

AIX should detect it automatically. If by any chance your "Operating System"
should be Leenucks, you're in the wrong group.

Yes of course - but try to ask in a lx group for an Bull machine!! The
most people will ask you - Athlon or P4?! ha ha.

I know that AIX detect it automatically, but Ive got the computer
without any Operating System installed and for my uses is AIX to big.

I bet there exists a *.leenucks.powerpc group.

Leenucks is a pain in the ass on these Machines. AIX will run way faster,
more stable and needs less resources than Leenucks. Go for AIX if you dare.

For my uses is Lx more efficence and the licence is much cheaper - I
think you must know that - and more tools are aviable.

But thanks for the tipp. The next ppc will be an aix - perhaps.

You're posting via news.cis.dfn.de. I know for sure it carries
comp.os.linux.powerpc...

In what region, particularly on these machines, is leenucks more efficient?
I'm not aware of even _one_ thing leenucks could do better than AIX on this
hardware.

? think you must know that -

Dig aout the last three or four "AIX on Motorola" and "AIX on Bull" threads
and read them. There was some information you may have missed.

? and more tools are aviable.

Definitely not.

I seem to remember its a DEC 2104 or 21104, cant remember exactly the
number. It also appears sometimes with the identity of an SMC card.

Hello, it should be an DEC-Based chipset, and if you get some unexperienced
answers
about Bull Systems, just ask about Motorola Powerstack, that is, what lies
behind your
Bull Estrella 300, there are already some Stickers on the system, which must
show
original Motorola Partno, and they work fine with Linux, just try SUSE PPC
from 7.2 and UP

1. Bull Estrella Series 300: more questions...

Hi,
at last, my Estrella is up and running again but I have some
more questions:

- How do I change the Color Depth to 16 or 24 Bit? I have a 8 MB Matrox
Millenium II an this machine, so it should be possible to run

  color depth".
  I fooled around with xinit -- -d <colordepth> -cc <visual id> to no
avail. Is there any way to get a colordepth greater than 8 Bit with
this Graphics Adapter? I wouldn't even mind recompiling the Xserver
  if it should be neccessary.

- I need a 2nd Ethernet Interface. Would any PeeCee type Network Card
with a DEC 21xxx Chipset be sufficient?

BTW: I'm running AIX 4.3.2 including the latest PTFs from Bull.

Thanks in advance!

                Martin.
