To use sendmail to send/receive email through Notes mail server

My system:
- Sendmail 8.9.3
- AIX 4.3.3

Hi people,
I'm a first timer in setting sendmail up to connecting to a different
OS/mail server.

I'm trying to send and receive email through a Lotes mail server (NT)
for internal use, meaning it wont be connected to the Internet at the
moment.

However, I'm already stuck when I issue 'newaliases' right after
editing the /etc/aliases . And it shows the following message:

Warning: .cf file is out of date: sendmail AIX4.3/8.9.3 supports
version 8, .cf
file is version 6
WARNING: World writable directory /etc
dbm map "Alias0": unsafe map file /etc/aliases
WARNING: cannot open alias database /etc/aliases
Cannot create database for alias file /etc/aliases: A system call
received a par
ameter that is not valid.

What's the problem here?

Is sendmail even running? If the Notes server is handling SMTP, you're
supposed to disable the AIX sendmail daemon.

It's a problem from /etc.
Look with ls -al , the rights of /etc should be rwxr-xr-x.

1. want to send/receive email from gprs phone through my linux mail server

Hi:

I'm running linux (SUSE 7.1, kernel 2.2.18) at home using sendmail 8.11.2
and popper (not sure of version). I am able to download mail from my mail
queue, but when I try to send something from my gprs phone through the mail
server, it says relaying is denied. How do I setup my mail server to allow
sending mail from my gprs phone? I'm using t-mobile service here in the
USA. My phone is a nokia 6310i and I'm using the Palm Tungsten T's Versa
mail program.

Thanks for the help!
