snort 1.9 on AIX 4.3.2

Hi,

Is there someone still using/configuring IDS snort on AIX? I am an
newbie in this and find it very difficult to get info about snort on
AIX. Can someone point me in the right direction for a rather complete
guide going through this. TIA.

Best Regards,
Denis

http://www.snort.org would be a good starting point.  They do have
good documentation on their site.

Thanks for your reply.

But I am referring to AIX. I seems can't find any complete info on AIX
deployment. Can someone help on this?

Regards,
Denis

1. Linux Utils 1.9 and Hostname

I seem to have run into a problem while installing the util-linux-1.9
archive. I installed only the binaries by reading the instructions,
and untarring in the / directory.

Now, when I start up the system, the Hostname is set to (none). I have
traced through all my RC files and everything SEEMS to be setup
properly. I fixed a simple problem by creating a link from /etc/utmp
to /var/adm/utmp.

Now..when I run hostname, I get the output that I SHOULD get from
domainname.
