SSA RAID Array problem

:    100%      SSA-SUBSYSTEM        20-58

I'm not dialled into work, so I don't have the SSA SRN reference
but I believe that 49500 means that no spare is available for
an array configured for spares.

Do something like this:

# ssaraid -Il ssa<n> | grep -p spare

where n is the number of the SSA adapter.
If the above command returns only the stanza
for the array disk (hdisk<n>) and the value
on the 'spare' line is 'true', then one of
your disks went belly-up and the array was
rebuild using the hot spare.

As for the enclosure error, I can't say.
Does a short errpt (just and 'errpt') say
something like 'LOSS OF REDUNDANT POWER'?
The enclosure error may be trivial, may not
be.

Regards,

Nicholas

This means that you told your system there is a spare disk but
you have none installed for that purpose.

It's pretty clear described in the manuals !!

Greetings, Richard

1. Re-using SSA disks previously members of a SSA RAID array

On Tue, 16 Mar 1999 20:12:12 -0500 a carbon-based biped by the name of Lekic

Somewhere under the SSA Raid menu entry in the smit|Devices menu,
there is a point that will let you change the usage of a SSA disk.
If a disk has been a member of an array, it is probably listed as
'Array candidate disk' or 'Hot Spare'.
Change that to 'AIX system disk' for all the disks, and you should
be able to re-use the units as normal SSA disks.

Peter
