I can't set number of columns per page on a remote print queue

I can't set number of columns per page on a remote print queue

Post by jim » Tue, 01 Aug 2000 04:00:00

I have remote queues printing to NT Server queues running TCP/IP
Printing services. The output is wrapping at 80 columns. I tried smit,
lsvirprt, and chvirprt to change the w attribute, but no luck.

Any help offered is appreciated, Jim Lake.

I would check to be sure the application doing the printing isn't the
one doing the wrapping. One way would be to try printing something
outside the application, say using "lp /etc/hosts" and see if that
wraps. That's assuming at least one line in /etc/hosts is more than 80
columns, of course; you could always create a test text file of say 132
columns.

Also, you could use "vi" on an actual raw queue data file to see if
there's wrapping there. On our system, files are in: /usr/spool/qdaemon

Maybe at least you can figure out where in the chain the output is
getting wrapped:

application->AIX->NT->printer itself
