Can't get at SSA drive!

Can't get at SSA drive!

Post by Nigel Ha » Fri, 06 Dec 1996 04:00:00

I have a node on an SP2 that has SSA drives attached (about which I know
woefully little). I can create a volume group with all but one of the
drives that appear when I display physical drives throug smit. The error
message for the one drive that I can't get at tells me that it isn't
configured and yet it shows up with the rest of the drives on a display.

Any ideas?

Check that it really is "configured" that is the state shown by lsdev is
"available" and not "defined". If it is defined then try to make it
available by using mkdev. If it is already available but mkvg cannot
access it, check that the drive is still connected to the machine. You
can do that by using the SSA service aids which you will find in the
diagnostic program (type diag - select service aids then ssa service
aids). You should be able to use the configuration verification service
aid to translate the hdisk number into a pdisk number then use link
verification to figure out which drive it is.

You might also try running diagnostics to all the ssa pdisks and
adapters to make sure you dont have a hardware problem.
