I do most of my work under NT, but would like to use
a telnet-Solaris account to run X apps. I'm upgrading my
internet connection to a 128K line (from 28.8K) soon, and feel
it should be reasonably fast to run most X apps
with this level of bandwidth. There are a number of X servers
out there which supposedly run well under NT, essentially allowing
you to turn your PC into a full-fledged X station.
Has anyone done this? What kind of bandwidth did you have?
Another concern: will my telnet/shell account provider get upset with this-
i.e., is this kind of activity frowned upon by an i.s.p for taking up too
many resources?
Not that this is the purpose, but it'd be pretty nifty to have Visual C++
compiling in a window with a Solaris Java browser running on the same desktop
in an X window of some sort.
