nslookup question

nslookup question

Does anyone know of a tutorial on nslookup?  Some illustrative examples?

How does one lookup the ip number of a host not located in your domain?
The man page tries to tell how to find info on locus.ucla.edu but
doesn't really tell you what to do...

any info would be appreciated.

thanks

1. DNS and nslookup question

hi,

i believe i have DNS up on my box and i want to test it using nslookup.
whenever i do "nslookup hostname" i see two sections come up:

nameserver:  name of nameserver
address:        0.0.0.0

client: name of client
address:    address of client

What i'm  wondering about is the 0.0.0.0 part.  Shouldn't i have the address
of my nameserver's NIC?

TIA,

Green
