i do a lot of postings on newsgroups. i sometimes want to be an
anonymous. so, is there a way i can change my default user name to a
personal nickname, to appear on my posts?

Otherwise you can post via an anonymous server. Send mail to:
and follow your nose from there.

Many newsreaders allow you to set a NAME environmental variable to be
a nickname. Your email and posting address won't change, but things
like "Xiao Guan Wei" would change to be whatever $NAME is.
In csh: setenv NAME Whatever You Want

From what I've seen, Shouldn't a setenv NAME <name> Do it? That's the
only thing I've thought of.. I know that in ELM you can change it in the
options.. but as for news... this should do it..
