I want to remove files from a tar archive and change the
names as I go. Essentially I want to change the names
into dos format as the files are taken off the tape.
Cropping the file name to 8.3 characters is acceptable
Any Ideas ?

I am trying to create a script that will tar a directory with the tar file name being the time and date of the execution of the script.... like:
041520001624.tar
Any help would be much appreciated!!
