"textedit" under Solaris 2.3 and 2.4

Post by Anita Hsiu » Wed, 29 Nov 1995 04:00:00

Hi everyone,

Just a quick question.  Has anyone run into any problems using
"textedit" under Solaris 2.3 and 2.4?  Any problems relating to the
definition of TERM (either "sun-cmd" or just "sun") or from where it's
started ("xterm -e textedit" or just "textedit" in the current
window)?  I'm trying to solve this problem for a colleague and we're a
bit stumped.

1. SA_RESTART and Solaris 2.3/2.4 "select()"

Hello, I'm trying to determine which Solaris 2.3/2.4 system calls react
incorrectly during signals when signal behaviour is to "SA_RESTART".
Currently we are able to identify that "select()" does not correctly
re-enter during an SA_RESTART signal; select() returns with an EINTR.
Although it seems reasonable to cover this scenario in the code, while
porting from BSD we'd like to know which system calls we can expect this to
happen with.  Why does SA_RESTART not work with select() (read(), write()
at least seem fine with this...)?  Does SunSoft know of this bug?  Is there
a list of other system calls that react similarly??

Thanks in advance!
