ONLINE/FTP available UNIX tutorials/tips/reference/etc

Post by Christopher L Lo » Sun, 08 May 1994 11:39:03

I am new to Unix and am looking for online available documentation,
such as tip-sheets, tutorials, reference works, etc. I am also looking
for recommendations for UNIX books for beginners (though I am not new
to computers), but I see that the FAQ has some references for that.

Anyway, online references and resources would help immensely,
especially public domain user-guides, etc.

Thanks!

1. On-Line Unix Tutorials Available

Please forgive (and don't flame) me if this is the wrong newsgroup
to post this to:

A searchable version of Unixhelp, an *extensive* tutorial on unix
is available on-line via the World Wide Web. Methods of access:

Method I
========
If you have a World Wide Web browser (e.g. lynx, mosaic) point it at
Nova-Links, the network navigator/http server at Nova Southeastern
University.

The relevant URLs are:

     Nova-Links Home Page
        http://alpha.acast.nova.edu/start.html

     Unixhelp for Users
        http://alpha.acast.nova.edu/UNIXhelp/TOP_.html

     Search Unixhelp by Topic
        http://alpha.acast.nova.edu/cgi-bin/srch.cgi/search/unixhelp/mylist

Method II
========
Telnet to ukanaix.cc.ukans.edu and login as 'www'. Use the arrow
keys to select the 'Nova-Links' menu option. This will take you
into the Nova-Links internet navigator. Select the 'Guides and
Tutorial' menu and you are there.

I hope you find this helpful.
