The book I often refer to is:
A practical guide to the UNIX system - Mark Sobell -
Benjamin/Cummings Publishing Co.
It has some rookie stuff, its kind of lean on system admin, and I could
do without the chapter on VI, but it is a good UNIX reference book.

The best two books are
1. UNIX Power Tools published by O'Reilly.
2. UNIX Shell Progrmming, 2nd.

1. Wanted - Intermediate/Advanced References on the vi editor
Howdy netters,
I've been using vi for several years, but I am yet to
find a good reference that contains an exhaustive list
of vi's myriad features.
Could someone point me to references on the vi editor
that teach about advanced features of vi (such as
regular expression based pattern searching and
substitution, macros(?) etc.). Is there a vi-FAQ
somewhere in cyberspace?
The man pages, O.S. documentation and several other
"Intermediate UNIX" books only tell you about stuff
such as how "cw" changes a word, "yy" yanks and so on.
Where's the meat?
