mail or Mail? strange directory

Post by Lizhen Wang - 14773 » Fri, 06 Aug 1993 03:29:37

i use elm to read and send mails. the default directory is "Mail" for mails.
now i don't like the capital letter "M". so i make a directory "mail" and
deleted "Mail". consequently i changed all necessary stuff in .elm.

then the strange thing begins.

first the "Mail" directory will be created randomly again, no matter
whether you have "mail" as folder directory. i don't know when it will
be created. so i keep deleting "Mail" (i use .logout to do this).

after a while, i thought the mail likes a human being, he prefers "Mail".
ok, i don't want to bother this. so change everything back to "Mail" and
"mail" is deleted. i thought this time everything should be ok.

no. the strange thing continues. this time "mail" is automatically, randomly
created, just like he has the memory and never forget i used "mail"
as folder directory. so now i keep deleting "mail".

what a trouble. :-)
ps: i am an ordinary user with no access to system files.

What you could do is create a softlink to "Mail" and call it "mail" and
then you can use whichever version you like.

Even better:  edit the elmrc file found in your .elm directory.  Change
the "maildir" setting to point to whatever directory you want to use for
mail.
