UUCP file transfer - HELP

Post by Curt Peterso » Thu, 13 Feb 1997 04:00:00

I am trying to copy a large file accross a async link using tty0 in two
RS6000 with AIX v3.2.5.  I have tested the link with files up to 48K and
it is fine.  Baud rate is 38,400, distance is 40 feet, tcp is not an
option.  Source system is RS6000-320 and target is a -250.  I receive a
file error on the target system.  The file is 5MB and is being copied
directly into an empty 8MB file system.

Example-

uucp file system2!/transfer/.

Any help or insite to resolve this problem is apperciated.

Thanks in advance.

Check your /etc/uucp/Permissions file on the receiving host to see if
you've allowed the sending host to write to the filesystem in question,
and use

        /usr/sbin/uucp/uucheck -v

to see if they are set up properly.  If you're still stuck, post again
with the specific error messages that you're getting.  You'll find
them via the "uulog" command.

Followups directed to comp.unix.uucp.

You might not know this, but uucp receiving occurs first into
/var/usr/spool/uucp/...  before the file is moved to the final
destination.  Maby you just ran out of space on the spool direcotory.

If your system does not have a /var directory then the spool directory
is /usr/spool/uucp
