Keywords: ypwhich
Hi there
If  you type in ypwhich on my master server, it returns
a node name for a slave-server.  Is there a command or
        something, that verifies ypmaster,ypserver,and ypclent.

IS this the correct group for NIS questiob.

        Thanks in advance......

1. Request: (yp)passwd replacement (security, yellow pages/NIS?)

[I'm running yellow pages on an Ultrix 4.3A server]

1) I'm looking for a replacement for yppasswd that understands
yellowpages/NIS and that will filter password choices
   (i.e. acting as a pro-active complement to crack/whatever).
I know of npasswd & passwd+: are there any other options
   people would recommend?

2) I *really* dislike editing the source password file, knowing that
if a user changes their passwd, the yp daemon will also be trying
to edit it. Yet yppasswd won't allow root to change a user's
password - I have to do it manually. And when I'm adding a new user
or deleting an old, and so on, the same situation occurs.
At least when there was just /etc/passwd one could use vipw
and lock out any other sysads. Trying to suspend yppasswdd during
   edits seems little far-fetched ...

3) It'd be nice to be able to run chfn/passwd -f again.

In summary, I'm looking for the best yellowpages-aware replacement
for yppasswd.

Comments, advice, and pointers to FAQs and FMs gratefully received.
